Fonseca hopes to strengthen Milan’s squad in four positions

New AC Milan coach Paulo Fonseca is expect to make four signings for the start of the 2024-25 season.

Fonseca only arrived at Malpensa airport on Saturday and is due to hold his first press conference on Monday, with Italian outlet สมัคร ufabet Sport predicting the Portuguese will transform the Rossoneri into a 4-2-3-1 formation.

It is expect that the position that Fonseca wants to strengthen the team is a center forward to replace Olivier Giroud, whose contract has expired and he has moved to LA FC. At this time, Alvaro Morata and Romelu Lukaku are seen as possible replacements.

The other three positions are in midfield with Monaco’s Yussuf Fofana a top target, centre-backs are also considering Red Bull Salzburg defender Straginja Pavlovic and right-back Fonseca has singled out Tottenham Hotspur’s Emerson Royal, who has now had an initial bid rejected.

Milan has not made a single signing during the opening days of the transfer window — despite finishing 19 points behind Serie A champion Inter Milan last season.

“We all know that we need a center forward. We’re working together to bring in the right striker with the right attributes,” Fonseca said at his presentation after signing a three-year contract last month to replace Stefano Pioli. “If we want to play in the final third of the pitch, we need a player who can dominate in the final third.”

For Fonseca, who sign a three-year contract with the Rossoneri, he was officially appoint on June 13 after amicably terminating his contract with Lille a week earlier.
