Metabolic Syndrome a warning sign of chronic disease
In the current era where medicine has advanced. Serious diseases in the past had medicines or vaccines to prevent them. However, the diseases with the most patients today are chronic diseases, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and cerebrovascular disease.
Which often appear silently without us knowing. The doctor would like everyone who has read this far to examine themselves to see if they have the chance of having these chronic diseases. This is to prevent such dangers from happening to you or your loved ones.
First, examine yourself to see if you have a potbelly by looking at your waist circumference. If men have a waist circumference of 90 centimeters ยูฟ่าเบท (or 36 inches) or more, and if women have a waist circumference of 80 centimeters (or 32 inches), this is a sign that we should not ignore. Because you may have metabolic syndrome. Many people may have heard this term. It was coined by an American doctor named Dr. Gerald Raven, who found that there are groups of abnormalities that are risk factors for cardiovascular disease. In Thai, it is often called “obesity”.
To be sure whether you have metabolic syndrome or not, you must come to see a doctor for a physical examination and blood test.
Which will find the following abnormalities
1. Triglyceride level of 150 mg/dL and above
2. HDL cholesterol level of less than 40 mg/dL in men or less than 50 mg/dL in women
3. Blood pressure level of 130/85 mmHg
4. Fasting blood sugar level of 100 mg/dL and above or 2-hour post-meal blood sugar level of 140 mg/dL and above
If you have 2 out of 4 of the above abnormalities, it means that you are 1 of 5 people who are at risk of cardiovascular disease that is 3 times higher than the general population.
It can be seen that the diagnosis of metabolic syndrome is a test for diabetes, cholesterol disease, and high blood pressure, right? Therefore, if all 3 of these diseases are found, treatment will be required. But if you do not have the disease yet but almost have it.
Here is what you should do
1. Exercise Nowadays, people’s lives are very convenient. Activities that require physical exertion are convenient at our fingertips. Therefore, we must exercise enough to reduce belly fat. If you lose weight, your blood pressure will also decrease. In addition, triglycerides will decrease, blood sugar will decrease, and HDL cholesterol levels will increase. Therefore, we should exercise for 30-60 minutes at a time, at least 3-5 days/week.
2. Diet control: Avoiding carbohydrates, such as sweet drinks, desserts, and bakery products, is the key to treating metabolic syndrome better than reducing fat alone.
